The active ingredient in Proviron is mesterolone. As with DHT, it is a highly androgenic steroid that does not aromatize to estrogen. In clinical situations, Proviron is often used to treat various types of sexual dysfunction due to low levels of endogenous testosterone. It is sometimes used to increase sperm count.
The drug does not stimulate the body to produce natural testosterone, it is just an oral androgen replacement that is used to compensate for the lack of natural male androgens.
Although this steroid is very androgenic, the anabolic effect used to build muscle mass is considered to be weak. This is because Proviron is quickly converted to an inactive metabolite. In fact, due to its very high capacity for binding to plasma proteins such as SHBG.

Proviron increases the activity of other steroids.
Among athletes, Proviron is used primarily as an antiestrogen. It is believed to act as an anti-flavoring agent in the body, preventing or slowing down the conversion of steroids to estrogen. The effects are comparable (although weaker) to Armidex, a substance that prevents the build-up of estrogen in the body. This is in contrast to tamoxifen, which only blocks the ability of estrogen to bind to and activate receptors in certain tissues. Proviron has a beneficial effect against aromatization because it is more direct and effective in treating estrogenic side effects. The disadvantage of Nolvadex is that if it is stopped too soon, a rebound effect can occur as the high serum levels of estrogen are still ready to start. Of course, this can mean a rapid onset of side effects such as gynecomastia and fluid retention. In fact, most athletes prefer to use Proviron and Tamoxifen at the same time, especially during very estrogenic cycles. Each of the measures attacks estrogen from a different angle, thanks to which side effects are greatly minimized.

This preparation is often used during competitions when low estrogen and high androgen levels are indicated.
This is especially beneficial when anabolics such as Winstrol or Oxandrolone are used alone as androgenics.
The content of these agents is then relatively low, and Proviron can supplement androgens and lead to increased muscle hardness and density. Especially in women, one Proviron tablet per day (25 mg) can effectively change the ratio of androgens to estrogens and have a major impact on body composition. However, special care must be taken as it is a strong androgen and doses that are too high can cause virilization symptoms. For this reason, women should not exceed the dose – 1 tablet per day and limit consumption to no more than four to five weeks.
A tablet used with 10 or 20 mg of tamoxifen can be even more effective at hardening muscles, creating a situation where the body is much more likely to burn extra fat (especially in women around the hips and thighs).
A typical dose for men is also 25 mg per day.
This is enough to prevent gynecomastia. The drug is often used during a heavy cycle. As already mentioned, this drug is often combined with tamoxifen or clomid when taking very estrogenic steroids (Metanabol, testosterone, etc.). Administration of 20 to 50 mg of Proviron and Tamoxifen in these situations proved to be very effective and higher doses were rarely required. And as already mentioned, the androgenic nature of Proviron is highly valued, especially in the period of preparation for the competition.

Proviron is extremely well tolerated and side effects are extremely rare if the dose does not exceed 100 mg per day.
However, the androgenicity of the compound can cause some problems. Common androgenic side effects include oily skin, acne, excessive body hair and worsening of male baldness, and can occur even with moderate doses. With the strong effects of DTH on the reproductive system, the androgenic effects can also extend to an extremely high male libido. And as mentioned above, women should be careful because Proviron as androgen can cause virilization symptoms such as a deeper voice, menstrual irregularities, changes in skin texture and clitoral hyperplasia.
Proviron does not belong to the c17-alpha-alkyl group, which is common with oral anabolic androgenic steroids. By not using this structure, the risk of liver damage normally associated with oral dosing is significantly reduced.
